Another campaign ended agonizingly for Connor McDavid and Edmonton Oilers last night.
The Canadian franchise couldn’t benefit from having the best NHL player in his prime as they were defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2 at home in Game 6, and Connor again will not be able to compete for the Stanley Cup.
Last year, the Oilers reached the Western Conference Finals, but now they were eliminated even earlier. However, Edmonton started in the best possible way as in Game 5, as they had a 2-1 lead after the 1st period with goals from McDavid and Foegele.
However, in the 2nd and 3rd periods, Golden Knights totally dominated the match and eliminated them from the playoffs.
Fans turn to Twitter to name their opinion about Oilers and McDavid:
“The Edmonton Oilers have wasted 8 seasons of Connor McDavid’s career.”
“How do you fail to build a franchise around Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.”
Sidney Crosby will forever clear Connor McDavid.
I don’t ever want to hear their names spoken in the same sentence again. pic.twitter.com/rf0438PMJg
