The Edmonton Oilers decided to keep Derek Ryan and inked a 2-season contract extension with the forward, and he will earn almost 1 million dollars per campaign.

The veteran (36) notched 13 goals and had 20 points in 80 matches this past campaign with Edmonton, his 2nd with the franchise. In the postseason, Derek had 1 goal and 2 assists in 11 matches as the Canadian team was eliminated in the 2nd round in 6 matches by the Vegas Golden Knights.

Derek is an undrafted player as he spent 4 years playing Canadian university hockey before finally joining the National Hockey League when he was 29 years old.
