Iga Swiatek demolished her good friend Kaja Juvan in a commanding fashion 6-0, 6-1 to reach the 4th round of the US Open on Friday.
The top seeded Swiatek needed only 49 minutes to dispatch her opponent, who had no answer to the Pole’s ruthless play.
The defending US Open champion made only 1 unforced error and gave Juvan 15 points in total.
“It is literally like playing against your sister because we’ve known each other for so long,” Swiatek said after the match.

“I didn’t like the fact that I was winning against my best friend, but I knew that I have to be really focused and not let myself think about that.
“I don’t have many friends but she’s my best friend so that was the toughest part for sure.”
The world No.1 clinched the first set in a matter of 24 minutes without losing a game and quickly raced to a 3-0 lead in the second. Juvan did get a game on the scoresheet, but it was a mere consolation as the Pole remained fully focused and closed out the match with enviable ease.
Swiatek will next face either Jelena Ostapenko or Bernarda Pera in round four.
