In a thrilling match, Jack Eichel’s breakaway goal in overtime, marking his 200th career NHL goal, propelled the Vegas Golden Knights to a remarkable 5-4 comeback win over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
Jonathan Marchessault played a pivotal role for the Golden Knights, scoring twice, including the tying goal with just 16.3 seconds left in regulation. William Karlsson and Pavel Dorofeyev also found the net for Vegas, with Eichel contributing two crucial assists. Goaltender Adin Hill made 26 saves to secure the win.
Despite a strong effort from the Kraken, including goals from Brandon Tanev, Andre Burakovsky, Matty Beniers, and Oliver Bjorkstrand, Seattle fell short in a wild third period. The back-and-forth action saw the Kraken take a 3-2 lead, only for the Golden Knights to rally with two late goals, ultimately forcing overtime.
Karlsson narrowed the gap to 4-3 with a powerful slap shot, and Eichel orchestrated the tying goal with a well-placed pass to Marchessault. The dramatic finish came in overtime as Eichel, set up by Alex Pietrangelo’s stretch pass, netted the game-winner with a shot over Philipp Grubauer’s glove.
This victory solidifies the Golden Knights’ position in the Western Conference, leaving the Kraken nine points behind in the race for the wild-card berth. Additionally, Kraken forward Jordan Eberle celebrated his 1,000th NHL game after signing a two-year contract extension on Friday.
