Carsley will be in charge of Three Lions’ next month’s matches vs. the Republic of Ireland and Finland while the English Football Association continues their search for a permanent boss.
Lee has been promoted from his position as manager of the men’s under-21 side, who he led to glory at the U21 European Championship 2 years ago.
Carsley replaces Gareth Southgate, who resigned after being at the helm for 8 years after the Three Lions’s defeat against Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
“It is a fantastic chance to step up and lead this England team on an interim basis,” Lee claimed after his appointment.
The new head coach added that he is familiar with the footballers and the cycle of international football and he is happy to help his country while they search for a permanent manager.
