Former Oklahoma City MVP Durant requested a trade in the offseason, but when no offers materialized, he rescinded the request before the season began. He is currently out with an MCL sprain and is unlikely to play before the All-Star break.
Durant was dealt in exchange for budding forwards Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first round draft picks and even more draft compensation, likely a few pick swaps.
After former Brroklyn Nets star teammate Kyrie Irving was recently shipped off to the Dallas Mavericks, per request, Durant it seems made a piea to the Brooklyn front office to get to his desired landing spot – Phoenix.
The Nets had won 11 games straight with both Durant and Irving healthy together, but everything fell apart once Irving’s contract negotiations fell through.
The move seems to signal a new direction for Brooklyn, who has now acquired five first round draft picks in recent days, as well as much younger talent.
New Mavs star Irving reacted to the Durant trade news, saying: “I’m praying for this happiness!”

He’s looking forward to seeing KD more often now that they’re back in the same conference.
