It was Koepka’s 5th major trophy in his illustrious career and this one ranks among the very best performance wise.
The 33-year-old was in the lead all the way as he ran off three quick birdies early and closed with a 3-under 67 for a two-shot victory. He managed to fend off feisty Viktor Hovland to become the 20th player in history with 5 or more majors. Only Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen with five and Tiger Woods with four have more PGA Championships.
“It feels damned good. Yeah, this one is definitely special,” Koepka said. “I think this one is probably the most meaningful of them all with everything that’s gone on, all the crazy stuff over the last few years.”
The victory means Koepka move to No.13 in the world and No.2 in the Ryder Cup standings, where the top 6 automatically qualify.
