These races align with some of the current year’s sprint events, including China, Miami, Austin, Brazil, and Qatar, while Belgium returns to host a sprint after previously doing so in 2023.
Formula 1 has provided data indicating that sprint events draw higher audiences than the traditional format, which includes two practice sessions on Friday, one on Saturday before qualifying, and then the main race. According to F1, live audience figures for sprint qualifying and the sprint race in China this year were 40% higher across F1’s top 15 markets compared to the average practice sessions for the opening races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
F1 chairman Stefano Domenicali highlighted the success of the sprint format, stating: “The sprint has been a great success for Formula 1, bringing all our fans more action and racing on the track. We are seeing the proof of this in our audience data, fan attendance on Fridays, and from the promoters and partners.”
