Aston Martin’s driver Fernando Alonso ended Friday’s practice for the Monaco Grand Prix with the fourth fastest time he achieved in qualifying simulations midway through the second hour of practice.
In his fastest lap, the two-time world champion was 0.220 seconds off the pace of Max Verstappen, who was fastest in the session.
“It was a good day for us as we were able to complete our program. There were only a few red flags, but it was the same for everyone, Alonso told the media after the end of the first two practice sessions in the Principality. – We did enough laps to be confident in the car, which is very important here. The feeling was good, the car was easy to drive, which is always desirable at a track like this. So I am satisfied.
“We are very confident because this car has only given us positives since the beginning of the year and today was no different. I enjoyed the ride, I had fun and I’m ready for tomorrow. Let’s see what happens. I think that everything is possible tomorrow, but I definitely think that we are among the candidates for the pole position,” added the Spaniard.
