Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has admitted he is “concerned” that his team are still unable to diagnose the problem which affected his performance in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Charles suffered from a lack of aerodynamic downforce at the rear of his SF-23, with his car proving very nervous during qualifying. Leclerc finished only 19th in qualifying, and in the race he reached 11th place.
The driver suspects that this problem has been present throughout the weekend, but what worries him is that a thorough inspection of his car after the final did not reveal any problems.
“It’s the first time something like this has happened to me,” Leclerc admitted. – In Barcelona – “I had serious problems on all the left turns and immediately after the session I told this to the team. The data from the car showed that I lost between 6 and 7 tenths of a second in the left-hand corners, but we still don’t know what caused that. It’s a bit of a concern, so we have to do something to solve that problem because my performance wasn’t good at all.”, Leclerc said before this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, where Ferrari won’t introduce any upgrades and it is unlikely that their performance will be much better at Montreal.
