Frederic Vasseur expressed his optimism about Ferrari’s current form, despite the Scuderia losing out to Red Bull and Mercedes in Mexico after locking out the front row.
Charles Leclerc came home 3rd, followed by his teammate Carlos Sainz in 4th for a good haul of points, but the Italians still lack the race pace of Red Bull and Mercedes.
“I would say that three and four is not a bad result, with the pole yesterday, the front row. I would say on performance it is not a bad weekend.” Vasseur said.
“For sure, we are disappointed starting from the first row to finish third and fourth, and also with the physiognomy of the race as I think we were in a good shape in the first part with the car of Charles a bit damaged.”
Ferrari are currently engulfed in a heated fight with Mercedes for P2 in the Constructors with the Scuderia trailing the Silver Arrows by 22 points.
