Los Blancos president Florentino Perez shared his frustration today with the new Champions League format and claimed that the European Super League is “more necessary than ever” in a speech to the side’s members.
Florentino still supports the idea of the Super League, criticized the standard of Spanish officials and VAR, and added that La Liga didn’t manage TV rights incomes right between the teams.

Real Madrid’s president has been the biggest supporter of the Super League since its attempt to launch during the spring of 2021.
“Football is now in an unprecedented institutional crisis at every level, in our country and in our continent,” Perez claimed. “The situation is troublesome. We must act, or football as we know it won’t survive. The crucial problem is that the organizers aren’t thinking about the supporters… European football doesn’t belong to the UEFA chief [Aleksander Ceferin], and Spanish football doesn’t belong to the league’s president [Javier Tebas].”
