The Sky Blues dominated the whole match but had to comeback for the triumph.

Manchester City won the derby against Manchester United 3-1 at Etihad Stadium despite Guardiola’s side trailing after the 1st half.

The Sky Blues dominated the 1st half as they had almost 3 xG to 0.19 of the Red Devils as the home side had 18 goal attempts compared to the visiting side’s 2, but Gurdiola’s team failed to score.

Manchester United took the lead in the 8th minute after a fantastic goal scored by Marcus Rashford who volleyed the ball from the edge of the box and netted after Bruno Fernandes’ assist.

However, after that, the Sky Blues dominated, with Erling Haaland making the biggest miss in the game in the extra time of the 1st half after Phil Foden’s assist that left the Norwegian forward meters in front of the net, but his shot went high over the bar.

In the 2nd half, Manchester City continued to be the better team on the pitch, but they needed magic from Phil Foden to tie the result as he scored a fantastic goal into the top left corner after Rodri’s assist, and the result became 1-1 in the 56th minute.

Phil Foden with his 2nd goal in the game in the 80th minute, gave the lead for the Sky Blues for the 1st time in the match after Julian Alvarez’s assist inside the box.

In the extra time, Erling Haaland also netted after Rodri’s assist for Man City to make it 3-1 in the 92nd minute and to secure the 3 points for the Sky Blues that are back 1 point behind the Premier League leader Liverpool as the 2 teams will play against each other next weekend at Anfield.

Manchester United lost the 2nd straight match in the league after Fulham beat them in the past weekend, and the Red Devils are 11 points behind 4th-place Aston Villa and 6 points behind 5th-place Tottenham, but Spurs have a game in hand.
