American Taylor Fritz said he has nothing to lose but only to win from his upcoming US Open quarter-final match against Novak Djokovic.
Fritz, who is No. 9 seeded in the tournament and currently the top-ranked American in the ATP rankings, has seven losses in seven matches against 23-time Grand Slam winner.
“He’s beaten me seven times. I don’t think there’s any other tennis player who’s done that against me, so hopefully now it’s my turn to win,” said the 25-year-old Fritz after coming through in three set with Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker in the fourth round of the tournament.

The last match between Fritz and Djokovic was about two weeks ago at the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, when the Serbian won 6-0, 6-4. “I learned a good lesson in Cincinnati. I don’t want to make excuses, but it wasn’t my best day. I’m grateful though, because now I know which mistakes not to repeat. I think I’ll be in a much better position now, because I have nothing to lose. I don’t plan to do anything different, I will play my game. I believe that if I play at my best level, that will be enough for me,” explained Fritz, who is yet to lost a set in New York this year.
