WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-0) showed no sign of admiration for the records of WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0).
“He’s had only five fights in the heavyweight category, and honestly, I wasn’t impressed,” Fury stated to The Stomping Ground.
“Usyk does what he has to do, wins, and gets paid. He does his job and goes home. Is he good enough to beat the ‘Gypsy King’? I don’t think so, but good luck to him. If he does, I’ll shake his hand. My prediction for the fight? I’ll destroy him within seven rounds,” concluded Fury.
Tyson Fury and Usyk were initially scheduled to meet in the ring on February 17, but the bout was postponed to May 18 due to a cut above Fury’s right eye sustained during sparring with a representative from the British Isles.
Both fighters have agreed to the new date, and the venue for the bout remains the same—the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
