Manchester United walked away with a valuable points from Anfield after a staunch defense, which Jurgen Klopp’s men found impossible to break.
But that didn’t go down well with pundit Gary Neville, who was highly critical of Erik ten Hag’s men approach. The former United legend linked Sunday’s game plan as that of Jose Mourinho, who also manage to squeeze two 0-0 draws at Anfield during his stint at United.
“Manchester United played really poorly. They had a 10, 15-minute period when Szoboszlai went off and they [Liverpool] had Trent Alexander-Arnold and Endo in midfield and it was a 4-2-4 where you thought, “ooh, there are two or three counter-attacks.” Neville said.
“It’s a good result because it’s a draw at Anfield and you can never dismiss a draw at Anfield, but that’s not a performance.”
In the end Liverpool finished with 34 shots to United’s six with 69% ball possession, underlying just how dominant the Reds were.
