Springer hits his 55th career leadoff home run.

George Springer is now in the 2nd place on baseball’s career list with his 55th leadoff homer; Yusei Kikuchi pitched a campaign-high 7 innings as the Toronto Blue Jays destroyed the Oakland Athletics 12-1 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

Tony Kemp struck a solo homer, his 3rd, but Athletics were defeated for the 10th time in 11 matches after winning 7 straight clashes before that. Oakland is 40 matches below .500 at 20-60, matching for the 9th worst record after 80 matches in MLB history. That’s the worst beginning of a campaign since Detroit 19-61 in 2003.

Springer had 2 for 3 with a walk and 2 RBI, a sacrifice fly. Before him is only Rickey Henderson with 81 leadoff homers.

Oakland will face the New York Yankees in a 3-game series in the Big Apple.

Toronto will play a 3-match series in Canada vs. San Francisco, as the 1st game is on Tuesday.
