The NHL franchise from the Big Apple shared the news as they added that the decision is collective for this change – a few days after a 7-game series defeat to the New Jersey Devils.
“I have a lot of respect for Gallant as both a manager and person and truly acknowledge everything he did for us on and off the ice these last 2 years,” GM Chris Drury shared with the media.
“After my assessment of the year and consultations with Gallant, we mutually agreed that something new would be constructive for both the head coach and the franchise. So, our pursuit for a manager begins now”.
In his debut season with the Rangers, Gerard took them to the Eastern Conference final last year and was part of the finalists for the Jack Adams Trophy for the best manager of the season.
