Tournament MVP Denis Schroder was at it again, scoring 28 points, while Franz Wagner added another 19 to help their team remained unbeaten all throughout.
With that record, Germany, whose last top showing at the World Cup was a bronze medal in Indianapolis 2002, became the fifth consecutive champion to go on an unbeaten run.
“It’s a little bit of a surreal moment,” head-coach Gordie Herbert said. “It’s like I told the players. It’s a tremendous group of players, but we were a team first. Guys cared about each other and they challenged each other.”
For the Serbs Aleksa Avramovic scored 21 and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 17 as they lost the final for the second time in the last three tournaments. Nevertheless, it was an impressive run from them, considering the absence of star player Nikola Jokic, who decided to rest for the upcoming season.
