The Greek superstar admitted his future is never set in stone, leaving the door open for a trade

Giannis Antetokounmpo insists he remains fully committed to the Milwaukee Bucks, but the two-time MVP admits his outlook could change as time goes on. Speaking with The Athletic, the Greek superstar emphasized that he’s focused on the present while acknowledging that his future is never set in stone.

“I think I’ve communicated with my teammates, communicated with the people I respect and love that the moment I step on this court or in this facility, I wear this jersey, the rest does not matter. I’m locked into whatever I have in front of me,” Giannis told Nehm.

“But if in six, seven months, I change my mind I think that’s human too, you’re allowed to make any decision you want. But I’m locked in. I’m locked into this team. I’m locked into these guys, to this group and to this coaching staff and to myself.”

Antetokounmpo’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about his long-term future in Milwaukee. Since leading the Bucks to their 2021 NBA championship, Giannis has often reaffirmed his loyalty, yet his tone has shifted in recent years following several early playoff exits.

The 30-year-old is entering his 13th NBA season after averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game last year. Despite his dominant performances, Milwaukee has failed to advance past the first round for two consecutive seasons, even after pairing Giannis with Damian Lillard.

While Antetokounmpo remains under contract for three more years—worth over $170 million—reports suggest he evaluated his options this past offseason and briefly entertained the idea of joining the New York Knicks. Those rumors intensified when he temporarily relocated his family to Greece, prompting him to issue a firm denial.
