The fairytale continues for Michel's side as they leapfrog Real Madrid

Girona’s unbelievable season keeps on marching on with a thumping 3-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves on Monday night.

The hosts were clearly the dominant force, enjoyed more possession and were the more dangerous team.

Artem Dovbyk gave them an early lead in the first half with a clinical finish. Portu doubled the margin just on brink of half-time to insert calmness in the squad.

Just before the one hour mark the hosts were rewarded a penalty and up stepped Dovbyk to calmly convert it with his second of the night and Girona’s third, which put the game beyond Alaves.

Victory meant Michel’s men once again leapfrog Real Madrid to lead La Liga with 44 points, two ahead of Los Blancos with 42.
