Forwards Claude Giroux and Joe Pavelski both reached the 1,000-point mark in their NHL careers on Monday night.
Giroux, 35, had 998 points before the game between Ottawa and Carolina, which the Senators won 3-2. He opened the scoring for Canadians in the sixth minute of the game, and just before the end of the first period he assisted Tim Stützle for the second goal of the game to become the tenth active player with 1,000 points in the goal plus assist system.
Brett Peske and Brent Burns tied it for Carolina, but midway through the third period, Giroud scored his second goal of the game, which turned out to be the Senators’ winner.
