Chandler Stephenson scored 2 goals, while Mark Stone and William Karlsson added another one each.
Golden Knight became the first team to qualify for the second round after turning the overall match against the Jets, who won Game 1, but lost all four after that. Vegas is now 42-29 in the postseason and 8-5 in the playoffs ever since entering the league.
“I think it was our best, or closest to complete, but like I said, we still have work to do and we know that,” the delighted Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said.
“Nobody plays their best game in the first round. You keep building, and we’ll do the same.”
Kyle Connor scored the sole goal for Winnipeg as goaltender Connor Hellebuyck saved 21 shots.
Jets coach didn’t shy away from criticism when asked about his team’s performance.
“I’m so disappointed and disgusted right now, that’s my thoughts,” he said.
“No pushback. It’s the same crap we saw in February. As soon as we were challenged for first place, and teams were coming after us, we had no pushback. This series we had no pushback. Their better players were so much better than ours it’s not even close. … They were the better team in the regular season, they were the better team in this series.”
