The Vegas team barely survived in regulation time to snatch victory at the dead

The Vegas Golden Knights came out victorious in a hard-fought match against the Minnesota Wild with a 4-3 shootout win on Monday night.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored twice in regulation, before adding another goal in overtime. Keegan Kolesar and Matt Boldy each scored with Boldy also having an assist. Jack Eichel and Reilly Smith each added a goal to Vegas’ tally of three in the shootout.

Brandon Duheime and John Klinberg both scored for the Minnesota team, while Frederick Gaudreau and Joel Erikkson Ek had a shootout goal. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson made 23 saves.

Despite the loss, the Minnesota team found out shortly after the game that they clinched a playoff spot after Dallas’ 5-1 win over Nashville. The Wild sit with 98 points, tied with Dallas atop of the Central Division.

The Golden Knights, who beat the Wild in second game in succession, sit with 103 points atop of the Western and Pacific Division and are safely through for a postseason spot.

Next up for Vegas is a trip to Nashville on Tuesday, while Minnesota goes to Pittsburgh on Thursday.
