The Vegas Golden Knights came out on top against the San Jose Sharks 5-4 in a hard-fought match on Sunday night.
Jonathan Marchessault was the main protagonist as netted twice in regulation and secured the victory with a shootout winner.
Chandler Stephenson and Brayden McNabb also scored for the Golden Knights, which extends its winning streak to 3 in a row and 5 out of their last 6 games to lead the league with 43 points. Goaltender Jiri Patera impressed on his debut as he stopped 35 shots.

Mike Hofman led the way for San Jose with 2 goals, while Mario Ferraro and Calen Addison bagged one of their own. Goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen made 23 saves.
The Vegas team established an early lead and looked like cruising to victory, but late surge from San Jose saw them tested to the limit. In the end, the Stanley Cup winners managed to hold on to their advantage to secure a vital win.
