The Giants placekicker will be sidelined for undisclosed amount of time

Graham Gano from the New York Giants will be having a surgery on his left knee and will be place on the injured reserve list.

The Giants coach Brian Daboll announced the decision on Friday without revealing the extent of the recovery timeline.

Gano was having a solid season so far with 11 out of 17, missing three of his last four kicks. The most crucial was a 35-yarder with 24 seconds to play last weekend. Had he made it, New York would have opened a 13-7 lead over the Jets.

The Giants have brought up a substitution in the face of Code York from Tennessee Titans practice squad. However, Daboll did not reveal whether York would start in the upcoming game against the Raiders.
