Guardiola says Man City defenders should get same credit as attackers

Pep Guardiola stated that Manchester City’s defenders should be praised as much as his attackers.

City are usually regarded as one of the most venomous teams in attacks with the Citizens traditionally scoring goals for free.

But one underestimated trait of theirs is their solid defense. No team since 2020 has conceded fewer goals than the current Premier League champions and so far they have followed that path with 8 goals conceded in 11 games.

“Defending well is always key. They have credit and respect from us but outside it is more attractive to give it to the strikers,” said the City boss.”

“I have a feeling now that we have defenders who enjoy defending. When you see Ruben Dias, John Stones, Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake and all of them, they enjoy blocking shots. It’s a huge talent and we have many who can do it.”
