Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola touched on the subject of the Ballon d’Or at his press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League Round 9 clash with Brighton. The prestigious award will be presented at the end of October, and the main favorites for it are Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi.
“I’ve always said it: two Ballon d’Ors should be awarded a year: one for Messi and one for the rest of the players,” Guardiola began with a sense of humor.
“Holland should win it. We won the treble because he scored 52 goals. But at the same time, Messi deserves it too – his worst season is the best for the other players. Both of them can take it.”

“From a selfish point of view, I would say I want Erling because he helped us achieve what we achieved. I would be happy, but I won’t tell you it’s unfair if Leo wins,” he added.
