Man. City manager Pep Guardiola has shared he has failed to get the best out of Kalvin Phillips since the player joined the club from Leeds.
Kalvin inked with the Sky Blues during the 2022 summer transfer window.
Despite costing 55 million dollars, Phillips will start for only 5th time for the Sky Blues when they face Newcastle in the EFL Cup at St James’ Park.
“Marcelo Bielsa gave Phillips the best of Phillips in his career,” shared the Manchester City boss.
Kalvin became an England international under Bielsa while Leeds played in the Championship.
“I’d love to have achieved with Phillips what Bielsa has achieved with him. We have our own unique way when we are on the pitch, and Kalvin sometimes struggles in a few things, while the Leeds playing style was according to his preference,” added Pep.
