Josko Gvardiol has told his team RB Leipzig that he prefers to join Treble winners Manchester City, according to German reports.
It is understood that talks between the two clubs are currently taking place, but the Citizens are yet to make an official bid for the Croatian defender.
“Josko and his advisors have submitted the wish to us for a transfer to Manchester City,” Max Eberl, Leipzig’s sporting director said.
“We are in talks. There is nothing more to say about it at this moment.”
Report say that the 21-year-old’s price tag could be up to £86m, which would make him the most expensive defender in football history.
Gvardiol was a vital figure in the Croatian squad that reached the 1/2 final of the 2022 World Cup. He also helped Leipzig finish a solid 3rd in the German Bundesliga.
