2nd-tier Bryne, Erling’s boyhood team, have reached the playoffs for the 1st time since 2006 and have the opportunity of getting promoted to the 1st-tier division in Norway – Eliteserien.
Manchester City striker will cover the train trip cost for around 200 supporters, around 16,000 dollars.
“Times are hard for people financially, and that makes it a hard decision for people to prioritize traveling to a match like this here,” Bryne marketing manager Bjorn Hagerud Roken admitted ahead of the side’s playoff clash.
“What Haaland did give more supporters the chance to attend the crucial match.”
Erling left Bryne to join Molde in 2016.
