Lewis Hamilton did not have many reasons to smile as he finished the practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 16th, way off the leaders’ pace.
The 7-time world champion didn’t hide away his frustration as he said that the car felt “at its worst”.
Another reason for Hamilton’s woes is the new ruling for tire allocation, which forces drivers and teams to use limited amount of tire sets.
Reigning champion Max Verstappen, who finished a surprising 11th also complained about the new rule.
“I only had one tyre. Not really a great format this change they made for this weekend.” Hamilton said.
“It just means we get less running. Not ideal. There are a lot of wet tires they throw away every weekend – a lot. Maybe they should look at that rather than taking time on track away from the fans.”
