Lewis Hamilton claimed the emotions poured out of him after the British GP because he had questioned himself if he would ever win a Formula 1 race again.
Lewis’ record-extending 104th career victories, his 9th at the British Grand Prix, was the 1st since the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP in December of that year.
The British pilot triumphed in his final race on home soil before changing his team next year and driving for Ferrari from 2025.
After the final, the Formula One feed played a radio message from Lewis as his voice cracked with emotion.
“I must admit, I can’t stop crying,” the happy pilot shared. “It’s been since 2021, I just daily, getting up, trying to fight, to train, to put my mind to the task, and do everything possible with Mercedes to get back to the victories.”
Lewis added that he even doubted that he would ever finish 1st again in Formula 1.
"There's definitely been moments when I thought that this was it, [a win] was never gonna happen again. So to have this feeling coming across the line… I've never cried from a win, it just came out of me" #F1 #BritishGP @LewisHamilton pic.twitter.com/2m0rL88Bme
