Formula 1 is an extreme sport and must remain so, 7-time World Champ Lewis Hamilton claimed in response to concern about driver safety after many incidents at Qatar GP in October.

The British driver shared with the media ahead of the U.S. GP that racing can’t go in the wrong direction and become too soft.
Lewis crashed out of the race at Lusail after a 1st corner accident with teammate George Russell, who finished the race and claimed that what Hamilton did was off the acceptable limit.
“But according to me, F1 is an extreme sport. You don’t have marathon runners who can’t breathe after finishing the race, saying you’ve got to make it shorter.
“Our sport is an extreme sport, and we receive much money for being part of it.”
Hamilton added that he is blaming only himself for not finishing the race and must train harder.
