Hansi Flick has been sacked as Germany’s head-coach following a disastrous run of results, which saw the Mannschaft record only 4 wins in 17 games, including the most recent 4-1 humiliation to Japan in a friendly.
The 2020 Treble winner with Bayern Munich becomes the first German head-coach to receive the sack since the position was created way back in 1926, almost 100 years back.

“The committee agreed that the German national team needs a fresh impetus after the recent disappointing results.” German FA president Bernd Neuendorf said in a statement.
“Going into the European Championship next summer, we need confidence and optimism in the country regarding our team.”
“This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make during my time in this role because I really respect Hansi Flick and his assistants, both on a professional and personal level.”
“Sporting success is of the upmost importance to the DFB, which is why this decision had to be made.”
Germany made a flying start under Flick, recording 8 consecutive wins in his opening 8 games after he was appointed in August 2021.
However, a significant dip in form, which culminated in a shock group-stage exit at the World Cup, has seen them record only 3 wins in the past 12 months.
