Brian Harman is in the lead at Royal Liverpool after stunning display, which saw the 36-year-old hit six-under-par 65, putting him five clear of everybody else.
The American holed four birdies on the trot from the second before sinking a 15-foot eagle putt on the last to move to 10 under par.
Rory Mcllroy is in second place with six-under par 70. Tommy Fleetwood, who is the overnight leader will resume in second place on five under.
Left-hander Harman, who started one shot off the lead after Thursday’s 67, drained putts of 19, 25 and 17 feet on the second, third and fourth holes to go two ahead and a further birdie followed on the par-five fifth.
The 36-year-old’s performance was truly scintillating as his total of 132 shots match the record of Tiger Woods in 2006 and Mcllroy in 2014.

“I’ve had a hot putter the past couple of days so I’ll try to ride it through the weekend,” he said.
“There were several holes where it could have gone either way on the back nine. I’m fortunate to finish where I did and I’m really pleased with it.”
