Liam Hendriks agreed to a 2-season contract with the Boston Red Sox, a gamble by the organization that the All-Star reliever will probably bounce back from Tommy John procedure.

Liam’s proposed deal will guarantee him 10 million dollars if he passes the physical examination, with the chance for the closer to bag even more funds with achievable bonuses. Liam had a reconstructive elbow procedure in the past summer, and given over a year of recovery from that surgery, Hendriks can return late in the current campaign if he even returns this season.
Liam, who just became 35 years old, survived stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma that was diagnosed in the fall of 2022 while playing for the Chicago White Sox. After successfully completing treatment, he played again on May 29, 2023 – but he took part in just 5 matches before he was diagnosed with a torn UCL.
During his 13-year career, he has played 476 matches with the Twins, Royals, Athletics, and White Sox.
For those who aren’t familiar with Liam Hendriks story, this is a great recap of it.
