The NBA is in the midst of an incredible scoring explosion.
As of Feb. 21, there have been 17 games in which a player has scored 50 points or more in the exciting 2022-23 season.
Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell is at the top of this season’s scoring list after he poured in 71 points in his team’s first game of the new year.
He became the seventh player in the NBA history to join the 70-point club and led Cleveland to a 145-134 overtime victory against the Chicago Bulls.
The Cavaliers ace’s 71-point outburst pushed him ahead of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic, who posted a 60-point triple-double on Dec. 27. The Slovenian has already scored 50 or more points in four games this season.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid and Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker are the only other players to hit the 50-point threshold multiple times during the 2022-23 campaign.
