The Carolina team run riot as they demolished the Devils in a matter of minutes

The Carolina Hurricanes trashed the New Jersey Devils 6-1 in a memorable fashion, scoring 5 goals in the 2nd period to take a 3-1 lead in the series on Tuesday night.

Jordan Martinok had a goal and an assist, while Martin Necas scored twice. Brett Pesce, Jesper Fast and Brent Burns each added a goal to Carolina’s tally, who have beaten the Devils in three out of their last four meeting with a total score of 17-3.

Goaltender Frederik Andersen stopped 21 shots from a relatively quiet game from his part after conceding an early goal.

“The game was decided in a five-minute span and the rest of the game was ehhh,” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said of that extraordinary 2nd period.

Game 5 will be held on Thursday in Raleigh, North Carolina, where the Hurricanes will have a chance to wrap it all up.
