New Orleans had a crucial victory in their quest to secure a playoff spot.

Brandon Ingram was the man for his team with 36 points, and New Orleans Pelicans overcame Los Angeles Clippers 122-114 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA.

Jonas Valanciunas finished with a double-double – 23 points and 12 rebounds and helped New Orleans to win 7 of their last 8 matches in the NBA. Pelicans are only ½ game behind Clippers in a fight for the 6th place in the Western Conference.

Kawhi Leonard was on the court for 41 minutes and notched 40 points, but LA Clippers lost for the second time in a row.

Two players scored 19 points each for New Orleans – CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy III.

Russell Westbrook was the highest scorer besides Kawhi for the Los Angeles franchise with 24 points and also gave 9 assists. Eric Gordon missed the game because of a light injury.

LA Clippers will play against Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, while New Orleans will host Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.
