The NHL team from the Big Apple also inked attackers Karson Kuhlman and Brian Pinho to 1-year, 2-way deals.
Julien was acquired by Ottawa in a deal of their return from the NY Rangers for Tyler Motte.
The Canadian franchise chose not to give Gauthier a qualifying offer a few days ago, and he became an unrestricted free agent.
Julien scored 3 goals and earned 5 points in 17 matches before joining Ottawa, for a total of 9 goals and 14 points in 59 matches with Senators and Rangers.
He was the 21st overall pick as Carolina Hurricanes selected him at the 2016 NHL Draft. His stats in the NHL are 14 goals and 32 points in 153 matches with Carolina, NY Rangers, and Ottawa.
