Max Verstappen won his 41st victory in Formula 1, which put him equal with the legend’s Ayrton Senna race-win tally.
However despite the huge honor, Verstappen took a moment to appreciate his current on-track rivals in the face of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, with whom he shared a podium for only the third time in history after Qatar 2021 and Australia this year.
The iconic trio has a total of 11 world championships and 176 wins.
“I remember, back in the day, I was watching these two already in Formula 1 racing each other, right,” Verstappen said. “So, of course, very happy now that I’m in Formula 1 as well and racing them is probably the best thing out there.
“When we can share a podium together, I think we’ve done it now a few times, I think it’s great. I think of course they want to swap positions, of course. I’m happy in the middle at the moment.”
Alonso and Hamilton were also full of praise for Verstappen and for his career achievements.
