Los Angeles is also sending a 2025 seventh-round pick to New England, in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick, according to reports.
Jackson signed a 5-year deal with Los Angeles last summer, worth $82.5 m, but has struggled to adapt. That is why he has been acquired by New England as a free agent and he will be looking to display the same level he has shown.
Jackson intercepted 25 passes over four seasons and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2021.
“He probably doesn’t agree with the decision,” Chargers coach Brandon Staley said last week about not playing Jackson. “but the decision was communicated clearly, and the reason why. The acceptance of that is a different matter.”
During last campaign Jackson featured in only 5 games, allowing 4 touchdowns in them. Unfortunately for him, he suffered a season-ending knee against Seattle and he says he doesn’t feel fully recovered yet.
