The upcoming Tuesday clash between the Memphis Grizzlies and the New Orleans Pelicans might seem like just another regular game on the busy NBA schedule.

However, for Memphis, this game holds special significance. The much-anticipated return of star player Ja Morant is set to take place, and the Grizzlies are optimistic that this matchup will mark the beginning of a focused push towards the playoffs.

Memphis has faced significant challenges in Morant’s absence. The star player received a 25-game suspension last year for holding a gun during a livestream video, deemed detrimental to the league by the NBA, resulting in the announced punishment. The Grizzlies, currently standing at 6-19, suffered their fifth consecutive loss with a 116-97 defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. Despite forward Jaren Jackson Jr. averaging 35.7 points in his three previous games, he was limited to 11 points in the loss.

Morant, who was allowed to practice with the team during his suspension, seems poised to make an immediate impact.

“I’m proud of him, what he’s been able to do,” commented injured Memphis guard Derrick Rose. “The work he’s put in and his mindset have been straight. He’s been the first one in here, he’s been staying late. He’s been helping younger guys, being a leader and a positive voice throughout this (process).”
