Milner has been in England’s top flight ever since making his debut in 2002-03 with Leeds United, aged just 16.
The 37-year-old has notched 3 Premier League titles in his career – two with Manchester City(2011-12 and 2013-14) and one with Liverpool(2019-20).
Gareth Barry is the current leader with only 21 games more, meaning if Milner stays with Brighton for the next year he is well poised to overtake his former teammate.
“His energy is great and he can play for years. James’ quality is clear but his energy, passion and attitude is more important.” manager Roberto de Zerbi said.
“He’s won everything in football, but if you watch him in training sessions, he is helping us to reach higher levels.”
