It was a rollercoaster event as the Edmonton team found themselves 2-0 up inside the first 6 1/2 minutes through Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard. However, they were unable to hold on to the lead as the Jets rallied to emerge victorious in dramatic fashion. It was Oilers’ second consecutive defeat and fourth in the last 5 games.
“We are just too up and down, not consistent enough right now,” Leon Draisaitl, who made the assist for both goals said. “It feels like every mistake we make ends up in the back of our net. We have lots of things to fix. It is very frustrating, of course. Our plan was to get off to a good start and we haven’t been able to find that. It is frustrating.”
Josh Morrisey and Vladislav Nemestnikov scored in regular time for the Oilers to draw the game level, before an overtime goal from Mark Scheifele sealed the deal.
