The New York Jets dusted off their franchise tag, placing it on star RB Breece Hall ahead of the deadline.
Breece’s tag is the nonexclusive version worth over 14 million dollars, meaning the running back can negotiate with other franchises and ink an offer sheet. The organization from the Big Apple has the right of 1st refusal and would receive 2 1st-round selections as compensation if they decline to match – a prohibitive price for an RB.
That means that Breece isn’t going anywhere unless he is traded or the tag is rescinded, which happens very rarely.
GM Darren Mougey shared several days ago that the Jets didn’t plan to trade Hall. The Jets general manager shared that Breece is an elite footballer and they want him to remain part of the team.
Breece would have been 1 of the most coveted free agents available. The free agent negotiating period starts next week.
