Jimmy Garoppolo has left Raiders’ practice session early with fear of a potential injury.
The quarterback has just come off a broken foot and the staff will thoroughly monitor his condition.
The 31-year-old, who missed the majority of last season, didn’t train with the team on Friday and Wednesday was his only 3 training session. He was given an early time off as a consequence.
“There’s a definite plan,” Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said recently. “We know what days we’re out there. … A number of players are going through the same process.”
In oabsence veteran Brian Hoyer stepped in and took his place, just like in spring when the 31-year-old was once again sidelined.
“As a backup, you may get a lot of reps, you may not get any,” Hoyer said. “So the ones that you get, you just keep stacking them up and use those as a building block. So that way if you ever do play, you know you’re going out there with more reps.
“It’s about keeping yourself on your toes and always being ready to go.”
