Taylor hasn’t been able to get a contract extension as his rookie contract expires at the end of this season and that has pushed him towards exit.
The 24-year-old had been in a meeting with owner Jim Irsay at his motorhome following a Colts’ night practice and the request is believed to have occurred afterwards.
“It was just a good conversation and, you know, hopeful going forward,” Irsay told reporters after practice. “We’re looking forward to a great season, hoping that Jonathan’s a big part of that and I think we had a good conversation.”
Taylor is yet to speak in front of the media about the ongoing situation.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a marvellous first 2 campaigns in the NFL, topping the 2,000-yard mark on both occasions and rushing for 2,980 yards and 29 TDs.
Last year, he rushed for 861 yards despite missing 6 games through ankle injury.
