Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones shared that an “unfortunate” gesture made to the supporters at MetLife Stadium over the past weekend was “inadvertent.”
Video circulating on social media revealed Jerry flashing his middle finger late in Dallas’ 37-22 win against the NY Jets after Dak Prescott’s 4th TD pass increased the lead to 37-14.
“That was an incident. That was some exchange with the supporters of the Cowboys in front of us,” the Dallas owner explained today. “There were fans of our team that were sitting in front of me, and that exchange was with them, not with New York supporters. The entire venue was brimming with the enthusiasm of our fans late in the match.”
Jones added that the gesture was inadvertent on my part because that was right after his team made his last TD, and he did it emotionally while celebrating the victory of his organization.
The National Football League has not commented yet on whether it will investigate the incident and whether Jerry Jones could face punishment.
